Our West Union, SC facility is the largest state of the art electrical metering facility manufacturing over 4 million meters a year. This location is seeking an Engineering Leader responsible for New Product Introduction and Purchasing. Manage the new bill of material (BOM) for each assigned project until the first assembly is produced in production devices. In this role, you will provide world class pricing for each part and associated tooling if required and support the Production Part Approval Process (PPAR) prior to Start Of Production (SOP). In addition, you will plan, schedule and monitor the movement of materials through the engineering project management cycle to determine required material purchases to support customer forecast. Ensures material standards are met and non:conformances or variances are approved and/or minimized. Develops specifications for new contract orders. Gathers quotations, examines bids and presents awards. Leads sourcing committees with respect to world:class procurement practices. Maintains highest level of professional communication throughout the entire organization in Oconee and Itron.
Duties and Responsibilities:
: Provides procurement expertise on project team and serves as leader to sourcing committees for engineering projects.
: Participate in engineering design reviews
: Negotiate service and material purchase agreement with suppliers.
: Provide support for sourcing, negotiating and administering supplier plant purchase agreements related to engineering project management.
: Build strong value:adding relationships with suppliers : managing the Preferred Supplier List (PSL)
: Quickly resolves quality problems regarding supplier services and material related to engineering projects.
: Generate and implement ideas to negotiate current cost, avoid cost and improve supply chain optimization. Contribute to total manufacturing cost (TMC) on all new products.
: Lead Material Cost Improvement Process events within Impact organization on products/parts/suppliers.
: Establish Purchasing dashboard for each project. Support Global Category Managers (GCM) with corporate wide purchasing initiatives.
Experience:
This position requires a minimum of 5 years engineering experience.
Education: Bachelors degree is required at a minimum in Business; Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
