Itron's West Union, SC our largest state of the art electrical metering facility manufacturing over 4 million meters a year, located in Oconee County is seeking a highly motivated engineer for a future opportunity with either an Electrical, Computer Science or Computer engineering background/degree who loves the challenges of making computer hardware and automated machines talk to each other by creating software applications. This Engineer must have a breadth of knowledge in software, hardware and computers in order to perform a variety of tasks related to the manufacturing of electronic products, from the maintenance of existing systems, to automated, PC:controlled testing equipment that feeds into databases which in turn keeps track of the individually produced products and notifies the individual of a failed unit, why it failed and where. This person will be faced with a fast paced, energetic and team:environment that promotes individual and team problem solving efforts to reduce or resolve issues affecting the manufacture of our products.
Duties and Responsibilities:
: Develop and support board level functional test systems that include communications, flash programming and RF performance measurements.
: Write and sustain C and C++ software applications which collect and store data in databases such as MS:SQL.
: Design and implement configuration, test and calibration equipment and procedures for new products.
: Sustain acceptable manufacturing processes by monitoring existing streams of data, understanding what makes an acceptable process, and learning when to respond and take appropriate actions when processes fall out of acceptable standards.
: Engineer and implement control systems for manufacturing processes.
: Troubleshoot and maintain production equipment in the event of failure or extended downtime.
: Continuous improvement of quality, cycle time, and reliability of production equipment through hardware and/or software modifications.
: Quality evaluation of product produced on production equipment.
: Documentation of processes, equipment and products as needed.
: Engage New Product Introduction (NPI) activities to assist R and D with Design For Manufacturing (DFM) an design production line assembly and test to deliver product to market.
: Project leadership and management opportunities may be assigned in accordance with the department's needs.
